About My Filmmaking

My daughter Heike Nomakhwezi Becker – actress by heart and profession

At a time when it was still part of the Soviet Union , I was a guest at a film production about the hippy culture in the sunny Krim-Region. I accompanied the first Russian filmmakers visiting West Germany, when suddenly Perestroika made that possible. My job took me from former Leningrad via Amsterdam to Marseille. My diploma thesis „Andriusha“ ran as a 56-minute feature film repeatedly on public television. I was allowed to play the leading role in a 120-minute Kafka film adaptation.

Mostly involved in my own projects, I was working as an editor at the editing table and on the computer. As a sound engineer, writer, director, and producer. As an animator and storyboard artist. As an interpreter and set designer. As an accountant and a driver. After all, I stood on set with Franz Xaver Kroetz and Bruno Ganz , even if only as an intern or script girl. And often enough, I was responsible for the hot coffee as a best boy.
